Algebra word problems

11th Grade math Algebra Word Problems:

Example:
The average of a six numbers is 22. take out one of the number from the given list; the average of the left over numbers is 14. Find the number that was removed from the list?
Solution:
Step 1:
The difference between sum of left over seven numbers and the sum of eight numbers is said to be removed number that is
Sum of six number – sum of left over (remaining) 5 numbers
Step 2:
Use the formula
Sum of terms = Average value x number of terms
Sum of eight number = 22 x 6 = 132
Sum of 7 numbers = 14 x 5 = 70
Step 3:
Using the formula
The removed number = sum of 8 number – sum of left over 7 number
132 - 70= 62
Answer:
The number removed from the list is 62.
